FATHERHOOD + the FULL SPECTRUM

The Pursuit of the Full Spectrum
There are those who pursue the full spectrum of life’s experience; leaning into discomfort, unknowns, chaos, struggle, pain. Not just athletically, but also in the realms of parenting, entrepreneurship, and more.
Why?
Because they know that the reward is as rich as the discomfort is deep.
They’ve said yes to things that challenge or scare them. Discomfort is the door to expanding the spectrum of your life’s experience. Imagine life on a scale of 1-10, with 1’s being your lowest lows and 10’s being your highest highs. You don’t access and experience 10s in spite of your 1’s, but rather because of your 1’s; your willingness to say yes to challenge and discomfort opens the door to a greater depth of reward, meaning, accomplishment, and elation.
Most people hedge against discomfort, hovering in their comfort zone and
robbing themselves of life’s highest highs and deepest rewards.
So many athletes and adventure-driven spirits like Adam Kimble are confronted with fears like, “will I still be able to do what I love if I have kids?” and wrestling with the challenge, difficulties, unknowns, and potential loss of identity. But the reality is that you can have both; the two worlds can not only co-exist, but feed and fuel each other. It may be harder at times, but the reward is even richer in the end than it would have otherwise been.
This is true when it comes to pursuing any goal, any race or physical challenge… but in the case of new adventure-dads like Adam Kimble, it’s certainly true when it comes to building a family as an athlete, writer, international racer, and speaker; living his fullest life with his daughter (and amazing wife).

WHAT THIS FILM WOULD ENTAIL
Adam Kimble is a renowned professional ultra-runner. Adam recently won - and got the course record and a 50mile PR - at Badwater Cape Fear, which means he will be competing at the Badwater 135 in Death Valley 2024!
This film project would involve filming and telling the story of that training process (in Tahoe/Auburn) and the race - through the lens of the challenges, rewards, setbacks, inner dialogue, and all that comes with doing it as the father of a toddler.
Creatively, I am approaching this piece with Adam writing a letter to his younger self (before his daughter Kaia); to the version of himself with fears and doubts about becoming a father. We’re weaving present-day storytelling with mindset and lens of past, present, and future self.
The film will be a creative documentary that includes:
Adam’s backstory - his lens on life; his history with adventure + challenge; his run across America, his experience being a survivalist on Discovery Channel, etc.
Life in Tahoe -- what brought (and keeps) Adam in Tahoe, despite the challenges of year round living/training here. Beautiful footage all over Tahoe’s greatest spots, showcasing his reverence for this home and connection to nature.
Also capturing community spots like the gym where Adam strength trains, coffee shops with owners who are family, meetups w/ sponsors like Tahoe Mtn. Realty
Family story — becoming a dad, and a plethora of real-life footage of Adam and Kaia (and Karen)

Post-Race reflections

“I survived 60 days in harsh South American environments (Argentina, Chile and Brazil), and it changed me forever in the best way possible. I was spiritually, emotionally and physically put through the ringer in a way that words can’t fully express”. - Adam Kimble

Why support this story?
Emotion compels + sells.
Story compels + sells.
People are turned off to superficial marketing. This is a time where brands need to go a layer deeper to really connect with their community and audience.
I have years of experience working closely with some of the most impactful voices and brands in the world of human potential, endurance, high performance, mindset, and purposeful impact. (Rich Roll, Colin O’Brady, Jesse Itzler, 29029 Everesting, and more). Their ability to impact their community through their content and message is unparalleled — people connect to the very human and relatable - and aspirational stories.
I help take the inspiring nature of who they are and reflect it to the world, building the motivating, emotional connection between them and their audiences.
The video projects I did for running-apparel company (and sponsor of Adam’s), rabbit, had huge success (ie. by far the highest performing video on their YouTube channel from another athlete’s race at Black Canyon 100K), as well as first and fastest selling-out of an apparel line due to this video).
My work for them also reached far beyond the ultra-running industry because it tapped into themes and narratives that strike a chord with everyone, not just runners. Thus getting more eyes on the brand, the sport, and the mission.

About The Creator
Born and raised in Minneapolis, Ali was brought up at the intersection of the outdoors and urban life. Her pull to adventure and the outdoors brought her to Colorado College where she was perpetually out of her comfort zone in the best ways. Fluency in French led to projects in Madagascar and French Polynesia during that time, followed by a move to New Zealand in 2009, filled with challenge and wonder.
After New Zealand and subsequently traveling the world, she honed her craft as a storyteller by making short films and taking photographs that captured the human experience in rich detail. She was ahead of the curve, at the forefront of the content revolution and realized that so many people sought meaningful content. She had combined her love of adventure with her deep connection to storytelling to start her company, PranaLens in 2014.
Today, Ali combines insight from 15 years of content creation, collaborations with some of the worlds biggest names, and her deep passion for shedding light on the human experience to create, advise, and consult through PranaLens.
Ali recently moved to in Truckee, California (a mile away from Adam) and is grateful to call Tahoe home, while continuing to travel for projects, adventures, and collaborations.
We want to tell this story well and convey this message in a moving way that will REACH FAR AND WIDE.
TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN, we are looking for support from brands who want to support this film project and be part of this spirit of LIVING.

LET’S GET PERSONAL
I’m particularly committed to this project and theme because I grew up with a father who abandoned his adventures and dreams in light of societal and familial pressure.
My dad had been a sailor, photographer, and nature-man by passion. Professionally, he was one of the best neurosurgeons in the nation; a job that came with a lot of stress, long hours, and regret. He was unfulfilled and resented his kids (my siblings and I), which had negative effects on us. There are many more layers to my story, but this layer has made me particularly attuned and awestruck by those who embody an entirely different example of what fatherhood looks like. I see what others don’t see - or may take for granted. It takes a strong inner resourcefulness and steadfast spirit to be the kind of father who can nurture his passions and his family, mutually.
I want to revere and celebrate this in adventure dads like Adam who are showing us that there’s nothing to fear, nothing to leave behind or abandon in the pursuit of a full life.
Most importantly, we want to inspire more men - and women - to lean into the fears and challenges that will stretch their mind, body, and soul on all levels.
Life is infinitely profound when we do so.
